MINUTES FROM JULY 8, 2009
Patty opened the meeting at 7:05 p.m. The minutes from the June 10th meeting were approved as read with a motion by Rich Davis and seconded by Carrie Lally.
The following announcements were made: the Red Cross will be hosting a babysitting class On Friday July 10th. Steve Curtis is offering Photography classes for all ages on September 8th. Carrie and Tom Lally said their kids attended the one he had in August for kids and they learned a lot. Their products will be on display at the Follow the Dotte Art Walk on August 14th. Volunteers are needed on August 12th at the Speedway for a practice run of distributing medicine in case of an epidemic. NCPP and WCAC are sponsoring the night out against crime on August 4th at Bethany Park.
Marty Thoennes from CABA talked to us about the CABA parade on Sat. Sept. 12th. Our group is invited to enter a float or have some participants. Patty is unable to attend but asked for volunteers to carry our banner.
Officer Rodriguez from Community Policing brought us up to date on happenings in our area. As usual graffiti and home burglaries are our top problems. He reminded everyone that if you have any incidents that don’t seem right, call the police.
CHWC is offering a $300.00 grant for our neighborhood. It was decided that we would use it for the Halloween event originating on 17th street and spreading to adjacent streets.
We still haven’t made any progress with the Community Garden. Tom Lally was going to contact Youth Builders to see if they would be willing to help us get started by building a fence.
There will be no meeting in August and the next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Cathedral Parish Center.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
