MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER 9, 2011

The meeting opened at 7:05 p.m. The minutes from the October 12, 2011 meeting were approved with a motion by Bob Sixta and second by Mickey Bahr. The following announcements were made. The Westheight Holiday Homes Tour will be Sunday, December 11th from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.00. The St. Peter’s Altar Society will host their Homes Tour on Sunday, December 4th. Halloween night in the neighborhood went well. 17th Street residents reported over 2000 kids came to their doors with little problem, except for a lost child and some traffic congestion. The two off duty police officers that were hired handled all situations very efficiently and said they would be glad to return next year as they enjoyed the evening.

Officer Rodriguez from Community Policing was in attendance and gave an update on happenings in the area. We are still experiencing graffiti problems and he encouraged everyone to continue to call in reports. Captain Alex Kump was also in attendance and gave updates on how the dept. is working in our area.

Steve Curtis from CHWC brought and introduced the young students he has been working with in Art classes. They are very talented and add a lot to our neighborhood.

Our neighborhood will again participate in the tree decorating contest at City Hall. Susan Carroll has volunteered to decorate the tree this year along with her daughter Shannon Epping.

Our guest speaker was Richard Mabion, an energy conservationist working in KCK. He had many great ideas to conserve energy and gave away many light bulbs. Two lucky winners, the Rychlecs and Lea Johnson won new light bulbs for their whole house. His presentation was very informative and entertaining.

Their will not be a meeting in December or January. Our next meeting will be Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
